EVANGELICAL BROADCASTERS FEATURE TED PIKE
By Rev. Ted Pike

As Christians, what is our duty to Israel? Is it prayer and evangelism
or does it go beyond to unconditional moral and military support,
right or wrong? Does the ancient promise given by God through Balaam, “Blessed
is he who blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth Thee” (Numbers
24:9) obligate the Christian to provide the modern state of Israel
with horrific and maiming weapons of war; or is it limited to a gentler,
more spiritual meaning?
These are questions which now more than ever must be faced. On
the one hand, most Christians agree that God has a wonderful destiny
for a remnant out of Israel who will be converted at Christ’s
second coming. Yet, no real Christian can help being troubled by
the anti-Christian policies now enforced in Israel, as well as its
oppressions of the Palestinians, both Christian and Moslem. (See,
Christians
in Israel: An Endangered Species and The
Simple Explanation for Mid-East Strife)
Recently, two major evangelical broadcasters, while disagreeing
with much of what I say, have nevertheless provided me a public forum.
On her show, Understanding the Times, Jan Markell, head of Olive
Tree Ministries, featured me for an hour in a discussion/debate heard
by listeners on her 15 syndicated evangelical stations. Tomorrow,
Markell is invited to again debate me with Thor Tolo, popular evangelical
talk show host on Live from Seattle with Thor
Tolo.
Evangelical broadcasters, why not follow the lead of Markell and
Tolo? Invite a pro-Zionist evangelical to discuss with me what the
Scriptures teach our duty to Israel does and does not entail.
You may consider me a bit too controversial to have on your program
by myself; but, countered by a forceful defender of the traditional
evangelical point of view, the result will be inevitable: a powerfully
lively fast-moving hour with your board jammed by callers wanting
to enter the fray! Call me today at (503) 631-3808.
