WHAT IF YOU'RE CHARGED WITH A 'HATE CRIME?'

You’re a loving, nonviolent person. How could you ever be
charged with a hate crime? It will be easier than you imagine if
the federal "anti-hate" bill now before the US Senate becomes

Consider this example. I recently debated on Seattle's Christian
superstation KGNW with Christian/conservative talk show host Thor
Tolo and syndicated talk show host and Messianic Jew Jan Markell.
About halfway through the program, Thor boldly declared that Jews
own and control the media in the United States.
“Massive [Jewish] control of media, frankly, is indisputable,” he
said. “The percentage of Jews who are in Hollywood running
major motion picture studios and controlling the major networks is
simply beyond dispute.” (Listen to the broadcast at www.truthtellers.org.)
The “old canard” of Jewish control of media tops the
list of what the Anti-Defamation League considers “virulent
anti-Semitism." This charge shares “hate speech” notoriety
with the historic “blood libel” that medieval Jews mixed
Gentile blood in their Passover matzo bread, or that the Protocols
of the Learned Elders of Zion lay out an authentic Jewish plan for
world mastery.
Thor Tolo, nationally known and respected evangelical talk show
host, made a classic “anti-Semitic” assertion before
a rush hour audience of perhaps hundreds of thousands! Was he speaking
the truth? Absolutely. Is he anti-Semitic? No!
But the world’s premier anti-Semitism watchdog organization,
ADL, would probably describe his words as "blatantly and repugnantly
anti-Semitic." In Never Again? The Threat
of the New Anti-Semitism,
ADL’s national director Abe Foxman says, “It’s
so disappointing to find the old canard about Jewish control of the
entertainment industry surfacing yet again…” Yes, Foxman
says, there are Jews, even a disproportionate number of Jews, in
Hollywood. But there are also many Irish and Germans in Hollywood,
and no one is entitled to say that Irish and Germans control the
entertainment industry. Like Jews, he says, they just work there.
(Foxman ignores the question of who owns the movie studios that Jews,
Irish, and Germans work for.) Foxman teaches that it is anti-Semitic,
hateful, and hurtful to suggest that Jews dominate the opinion-making
sector of our society. He warns that just hearing the accusation
that Jews dominate the media may be the first taste of real anti-Semitism
for many young people, leading them deeper into hatred of Jews (p.
249).
Tolo: Facing the Consequences
What might happen to Tolo? Under America’s First Amendment
protection he has the right to tell the whole truth even if the Jewish
media he has offended considers it anti-Semitic. Certainly, if Tolo
were an international figure like Dr. James Dobson and he claimed
Jews dominated the media, attacks on him as a “Christian anti-Semite” would
be immediate. This, in fact, is what happened to world-renowned evangelist
Rev. Billy Graham. In private conversation with Pres. Richard Nixon,
Graham also said that Jews controlled the media and expressed grave
concern saying "this stranglehold has got to be broken or the
country's going down the drain." Nixon agreed. Later, when exposed,
Graham at first denied he ever made such remarks but then groveled
before the rabbis of Cincinnati, confessing that his words were “unforgivable.”
Tolo Would Be a “Hate Criminal” in
Canada
If Tolo had been broadcasting only a few miles north in British
Columbia, he would be completely without legal protection. Jewish “professional
complainers” such as Richard Warman and Bernie Farber, emanating
from B’nai B’rith Canada and the Canadian Jewish Congress
(Canadian ADL), scour Canadian internet, print, and broadcast media
for such “hate speech.” They would immediately report
Tolo to the police, claming they were traumatized by his characterization
of Jews as media moguls–an accusation they would assert has
a long history of inciting hatred of Jews and violence against them.
In the British Columbia hate crimes tribunal court, Tolo could
cite impeccable Jewish sources such as the Encyclopedia Judaica article
on motion pictures (pg. 449) which says “all the large Hollywood
companies with the exception of United Artists… were founded
and controlled by Jews." He could cite the Judaica’s articles
on David Sarnoff, William S. Paley, and Leonard Goldenson and prove
that the big three TV networks, the most powerful creators of public
opinion and moral decline in America during the last 50 years, were
founded and controlled by Jews. He might also bring to court a number
of authoritative Jewish histories of the movie industry including
Neil Gabler’s An Empire of Their Own:

But it would do no good. All such evidence is considered irrelevant
in a hate crimes trial in Canada. The only issue is whether Jewish
feelings are hurt. Tolo would be found guilty of Section 319 of Canada’s
federal hate law, The Canadian Human Rights
Act (passed at ADL’s
insistence in 1971 after 20 years of lobbying efforts).
After Tolo alleged a Jewish monopoly of the media, he retreated
into uncertainty about whether Jewish media moguls would actually
stoop to use their power to influence America in a negative way.
Would Tolo be acquitted because he didn’t say Jewish media
control had been evil or damaging? Not a chance. Under the British
Columbia provincial hate law, it is a hate crime to merely make public
statements that might be “likely to incite hatred or contempt.” Certainly,
prosecution would argue, Tolo influences many hundreds of thousands
and should have known how “likely” it was that rebellious
youth and racists might take his negative characterization of Jews
and make use of it in acts of bigotry or violence.
Tolo would be found guilty and probably receive a $5,000 fine.
If he contested the verdict, he could expect to pay $175,000 to over
$200,000 in legal fees to defend his freedom, yet still remain guilty
in the end. If he repeated his “hate speech” in public,
he could face years in prison for contempt of court. If KGNW existed
in Canada, it would lose its broadcasting license. (See, New

Hate Laws Can Happen Here
You may sigh in relief and say, “Thank God such an oppressive
hate laws system doesn’t exist in America!” Yet we are
very close to that political slavery. The same ADL that ended free
speech in Canada recently persuaded the US House of Representatives
to overwhelmingly pass essentially the same hate crime bill! Top
priority for ADL is to pass S.1105, The Matthew
Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act, in the Senate. It could move out of the Senate Judiciary
Committee to a full vote very rapidly. (See, What's

How do we keep ourselves, our pastors, and talk show hosts like
Thor Tolo free from the stifling hate laws that now cripple free
speech in Canada? Call your senators toll free today at 1-877-851-6437
and tell them; “Please don’t vote
for hate crimes bill S.1105. Hate laws have taken away free speech
in Canada and many European countries. If you vote for the hate bill,
my friends and I will do our best to defeat you in the next election."

We only need to change the minds of six or seven Senators, and the
federal hate bill will be killed in this session of Congress.
If we can kill the hate bill, you and I and talk show hosts like Thor Tolo
can continue the messy, politically incorrect process of hard critical thought—without
fear of being cuffed and interrogated by the “bias crimes” unit
of the local police department.
Tolo is one of the very few evangelical talk hosts in the nation
with the nerve to allow an alternative view on Israel to be aired.
If we can continue to hold back hate laws, maybe other talk show
hosts will follow. Perhaps what Nixon and Billy Graham wished, in
hushed tones, can become a reality: the Jewish stranglehold on media
can be broken.
That would go a long way toward saving America.
